What We Teach
Natural Childbirth Education
The Bradley Method® natural childbirth series is one of the most comprehensive classes around. Our classes encourage mom and her partner throughout pregnancy, stressing the importance of good nutrition and exercise to help the body prepare physically for birth. Each class includes a labor rehearsal to help the couple practice relaxation techniques and labor positions to prepare mentally and emotionally for birth. Finally, each class equips our couples with comprehensive information regarding the choices available in labor so that they are able to make truly informed decisions regarding their birth team, birth location, and birth plan.
Classes are offered in 12 week series. Each of those 12 weeks, we will meet one day a week for a two hour class. The classes cover a wide range of topics, all with the purpose of fully preparing our couples with the knowledge and confidence necessary to strive for a healthy pregnancy, birth, and postpartum/newborn period. Classes are held in Grovetown, and will be team-taught by my husband and myself. Through team-teaching, we hope expectant moms' partners to feel welcomed, valued, and comfortable participating in class and at the birth. Each series consists of small groups so that couples can begin forming valuable relationships before baby arrives.
Class topics include
prenatal nutrition and exercise
relaxation techniques to manage pain/discomfort
labor rehearsals so partners can become comfortable and confident coaching mom, and so mom can practice various labor positions
the natural process of labor
breastfeeding and skin-to-skin

Pregnancy and beyond
In addition to learning about childbirth, we feel it is important for expecting parents to have access to a variety of resources within the CSRA. Having a baby is a joyous event, but it is certainly life altering. By introducing our couples to the various resources available in our area, we hope that they have more confidence after the birth of their baby because there will already be a supportive community at their disposal. Local resources for pregnancy and beyond will be provided in class.
